CELEBRATING STUDENT VOICE

For over 15 years, Arnel (A.D.) Scott has dedicated his experience, expertise, and resources to amplifying student voices, building confidence, and celebrating achievement. BOOKORAMA began humbly—the first batch of books was produced by hand using an old Ricoh color printer, a manual paper creaser, and a thrifted saddle-stitch machine from Goodwill. Since then, the program has grown: today, students receive bookstore-quality editions in as little as 3–5 days after their final submission.

Yet the heart of BOOKORAMA has never been about producing the best-looking book. It has always been about giving students the opportunity to share their stories, feelings, hopes, and dreams. The polished books are simply a thank-you—a way to honour the trust teachers and students place in the program and the courage they show in sharing their creations.

I am proud of how this all started, grateful to still be here after so many years, and excited about the future. Because through the voices of the thousands of children I’ve worked with, I have finally found my own. And just wait until you hear what I have to say!

BOOKORAMA grew from the belief that reading unlocks personal potential—not just reading books, but reading situations, opportunities, and the world around us. Each program begins with a sample text or illustration, then guides students to look beyond the page and uncover what’s inside their own hearts and minds.

BOOKORAMA isn’t about fitting kids into a box. It’s a flexible, confidence-building platform built on a simple framework, a caring guide, and the freedom for students to shape their own creative journey. With BOOKORAMA, every child gains the tools, space, and encouragement to make the experience their own.
