BOOKORAMA success stories:
FIND YOUR VOICE!
For more than 15 years, the BOOKORAMA program has given students from grades K-8 the opportunity to imagine, create, and share their stories in print and digital books. Lead by Author & Illustrator AD Scott—Students are given a front row seat to the magic of creation and the recipe for self expression through art and text!
HOW:
BOOKORAMA partners with classroom teachers to design custom projects that spark creativity and align with learning goals. Students are inspired by AD Scott and sample texts, then guided to create stories, art, or projects that reflect their own identities and themes. Their work is transformed into published books, posters, or videos, and celebrated at a showcase event—helping every student gain confidence, value their voice, and share it proudly.

XAVIER – GRADE 8
“ I never liked writing a lot, I always hated it. When HE (ARNEL) told us it was going to be published and showed us another way to write, I found it more interesting to write, so I started to write!”

Shahd – Grade 8
“It was a really great experience. At the end when you are reading your own story you are thinking Whoa! I did it. Everything was perfect and we really enjoyed it, thank you!”

Amy – Grade 7
“I already liked writing before— but I learned how to do it more. At some points the story was challenging. All in all, BOOKORAMA improved me as a writer and as a thinker.”

Brianna – Grade 7
“While writing the book I noticed that I was putting myself into the book, like I was a part of it. As the book came out I was excited. It has made me see things in a different way.
BOOKORAMA has really helped me.”
From reluctant writer to published author—BOOKORAMA helped Koleen find her voice
Koleen C.
From reluctant writer to wordsmith, Koleen’s journey shows the transformative power of the BOOKORAMA program. After immigrating to Canada from the Philippines, her love for reading and writing had faded—until BOOKORAMA helped her rediscover it. She is now one of only a handful of participants in the program’s 15-year history to have her work published as a stand-alone hardcover book, demonstrating the life-changing impact of literacy when students are given the right tools and encouragement.

“I was given the once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in BOOKORAMA!
The results were something I was REALLY, REALLY proud of.
As soon as I got my own two hands on my book. I felt like a little bit of weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and perhaps I could change my future one step at a time!”
